An Afternoon Tea Party

Our guild held an invitational tea party yesterday and what a fantastic afternoon it turned out to be.
Decorated with an Easter/Spring theme

As nice as a wedding!
Christa has expanded her quilting hobby into a home business selling fat backs and batting.  Give her a call if you are interested in buying from her.  The backings and battings are both very nice.
Christa's welcome to the ladies.
Our girls talked about their trip to Quilt Market in Houston and the classes they took.
Colleen talking about her appliqué quilt class.
Chris' class quilt from Houston
Shelby talking about Houston.

And some show and tell from anyone who brought something to show.

Sorry about the terrible caption for the photos.  There was just too much information for me to remember.  I also didn't include all the photos that I took yesterday.  There was too many to post, so I tried to include one of each lady who showed something.  Thanks to all of the guild ladies who worked very hard to put this afternoon together and to each lady who came out to make this a fabulous afternoon.

Lastly, my two youngest boys played in their league final last night and took home the trophy.  Here are two photos of that.

Marshall, Zach, Terran and Sabe- all Holzers on the team.
Our hockey is officially done for the year!

Minot Quilt Festival

This past weekend, a few of us guild girls headed south to Minot, ND for their quilt festival.  Christa talked about it on her blog already this morning and I am going to share a few of my favorite quilts from the show.
"Eldon"  designed by Laundry Basket quilts
I've admired this quilt for a couple years now.  This particular quilt took Best Of Show and inspired me to finally buy the pattern.

These next four quilts are minis.  They were extraordinary.

Terry Whitman took first place in the bed quilt mixed technique

A beautifully appliquéd and quilted Dresden Fan

A sampler in memory of Pam Bono

This giraffe followed the show's theme of Wild Things
I bought a fabric for another two quilts on the weekend, bringing my fabric total to enough for 29 quilts!  How did this happen?!?!  I used to say that I don't drink or smoke, so I can buy fabric, but now I think it just might be cheaper to drink and smoke!  These guild girls are a bad influence on me!!  Ha Ha.

Stars Gala Quilt Day

Our regularly schedualed host has been working her but off so I am filling in today.
Thursday was guild day...
We seem like we haven't gotten together much
but sure have been productive people!!
This was Maryann's quilt inspired from a picture on Pinterest.
She used Pam Kitty panels..

Jane got a couple back from Sandi Whitford
quilted them for practice on her long arm

If this was Sandi's practice run....look out!!!

She has only been long arming since June!!

Amazing donation quilts!!

Considering this is just a pair of old pants and church fabric!!

This is the next one Jane is sending to Sandi.

Chris used the Brother Scan and Cut to put words on this adorable quilt!!

The quilting on the back....

And then we have our own 'in-house' amazing long armer.....
Terry Whitman
This is the spectacular work she did on our Stars quilt for 2015

Beautiful work as always!!

We love how this year's quilt turned out so much....

That after these two finished binding it was started on a second for the Stars Gala in April.

We switched it up and used teal in the cornerstones this time.

So the label is on
 the name picked
(executive decision on my part)
This quilt is ready to be auctioned on Monday at the Ashworth Bull Sale in Oungre

(for the block party)
